Win Or Go Home: Talk N’ Text Versus B-MEG

© PBA on AKTV

Once again, the tables have been turned in this series. Both teams, the defending champs Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters and challengers B-Meg Llamados will battle it all out in a crucial and deciding Game 7, and that would be on Sunday.

We have seen this two teams have their fair shares of ups and downs in this series. It is one heck of a roller coaster ride for B-MEG and TNT. Many would say this is a battle for the ages. No one is giving in. Everybody has that will and motivation to get that championship.

That is the exact reason why this series has reached this far. We are now going to Game 7. This game will be all about pride and will-power for both squads. It is all or nothing. Winner takes all. Now or never. Do or die. WIN or GO HOME.

TNT, as the reigning champs, would never let anyone stand their way for getting another trophy for their franchise, considering that they are also in a Grand Slam campaign for the past conferences up to now. With Ranidel de Ocampo showing up in Game 6 from, what Coach Chot would say, a vacation will be a big factor in this crucial game. Although, the reigning MVP, who is also said to be in a vacation according to Coach Chot is not showing much in this series. BUT, a lot of guys have been stepping up for TNT. There’s that lock-down defender Ryan Reyes, the streaking Jared Dillinger, Mr. Big Shot Larry Fonacier, and last but not least, Jayson ‘The Blur’ Castro. We have witnessed their downsides in this series, but just like Former Houston Rockets Coach Rudy Tomjanovich said: “Don’t ever underestimate the heart of a champion.”

B-MEG, on the other hand, who is hungry for a championship is doing it all out in this series. The franchise haven’t tasted a championship for a couple of years now, they have an excellent coach who is also looking for a championship. Now, they have their chance, and it’s all or nothing for this team. With the Best Import, Denzel ‘Monster’ Bowles and former MVP James Yap, this team have came up big in this conference. Also, a lot of guys have been contributing in this series. They have a physical defender and power rebounder Marc Pingris, the hot shooting PJ Simon, ‘The Fireball’ Josh Urbiztondo, Joe Devance, Rafi Reavis, ‘Mr. Quality Minutes’ Yancy de Ocampo, former Finals MVP Jonas Villanueva, and rookie Mark Barroca. They may have lost Game 6, but just like what James Yap said to PJ Simon: Forget the loss, and let’s move forward to Game 7.

And we are down to the very last game of the conference. To whom will the balloons on Araneta go down for? Who will bring home the bacon?

Usapang Pag-ibig: Effort

Actions speak louder than words, ‘ka nga nila.

May mahal syang iba e.

Pero kung sswertehin ka, may mga taong marunong mag-appreciate at magpahalaga sa ginagawa mo. Sila yung mga taong binabase sa effort kung sasagutin ka nila o hindi. Kaya go lang ng go.

2012 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals: B-Meg vs Talk ‘N Text (A Preview)

Alright basketball fans, we are now hours away from the most anticipated event in this year’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup, nothing else but the Finals. This year, the B-Meg Llamados and the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters will be battling it out for the bacon. They will be having a best-of-seven finals series meaning the first team to have 4 wins will be crowned as this year’s Commissioner’s Cup Champions.

This match-up between TNT and B-Meg is said to be a ‘must-see’ for these two teams are this conference’s top 2 seeds where TNT was #1 and B-Meg as the #2. This are two veteran teams that’s gonna be facing each other with solid lineups and of course being mentored by arguably two of the best coaches in the league, Chot Reyes for TNT, and Tim Cone for B-Meg.

  • THE DEFENDING CHAMPS: Talk N’ Text Tropang Texters

Been there, done that. This TNT team have been going back ad forth to the PBA Finals for how many conferences now. They are actually on a grandslam campaign right now. That’s why they are dubbed as a “Dynasty in the Making”.

This team has won a ticket to the Finals for the last 5 conferences. And with those straight Finals appearance, they have won the championship 4 times. This team have been dominating the PBA for the past couple of years. The team was solid, the players knew each other well, they already have the chemistry needed for a championship team, plus, they have an outstanding coach who is well known for his strong attitude and love for the sport.

The Tropa’s lineup is deep, they have many talented players who comes off the bench and are good reinforcements for their starters. This is a very offensive team. Loves to run in the open court, has a good touch from beyond the arc, and strong guys that can attack and protect the paint, headed by their import, Donnell Harvey.

Guys To Watch-Out-For: Jimmy Alapag, Ranidel de Ocampo, Jayson Castro, Larry Fonacier, Donnell Harvey (Import)

  • THE CHALLENGERS: B-Meg Llamados

The Llamados have been this conference’s 2nd seeder after the eliminations. They are one of the elite teams in the league. Led by former MVP James Yap, and joined by the top Best Import contender, Denzel Bowles.

This team is not new in the Finals, but the thing is, it took them quite a long time to return. Even in the last conference, they have been one of the favorites that is predicted to be in the Finals but they are just eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Powerade Tigers. Now that they have arrived in that grand stage, it will be up to them on how they will prove doubters wrong.

Mentored by Coach Tim Cone, I’m sure this team will play big in this series. Coach Tim knows how to roll in games like these and will make sure he’ll get another championship in his post-Alaska era.

Known for it’s physicality in their last series with Ginebra, the Llamados would definitely give a hard time to their offensive-minded opponent with their hard-nosed defense and physical plays.

Guys To Watch-Out-For: James Yap, PJ Simon, Marc Pingris, Denzel Bowles (Import)

My Trade Analysis: Petron Blaze Boosters & Powerade Tigers

After a couple of attempts and trade proposals, the Petron Blaze Boosters finally get what they wanted. No other than former Smart-Gilas standout and now a top contender for Rookie of the Year, Marcio Lassiter. He was traded to the Blaze Boosters with Powerade teammate Celino Cruz for Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Rey Guevarra, and Lordy Tugade.

Since my task in this blog post is to show you my analysis for this trade, here they are.

Petron Blaze Boosters

Finally, after how may proposals, Petron got Super Marcio. Thanks to Commissioner Chito Salud, of course. In addition to that, included in the deal is veteran Point Guard and former FEU Tamaraw Celino Cruz.

  • Marcio Lassiter - Reunited with former Gilas teammate Chris Lutz, I think he would easily gel out with the team. He’s a prolific scorer with an average of 17.13 PPG and at the same time a lock down defender. He could be one of Petron’s go-to-guys for his clutch plays. And with Hontiveros and Lutz coming out from an injury, he’ll be having more minutes on the floor at least for the upcoming Governors’ Cup.
  • Celino Cruz - Hmmm. Just like my friend Stu, I also think he’s not a good fit to the Boosters. With Cabagnot, Miranda, and Lanete, he might not be able to get minutes. No doubt the three I have mentioned are way better than him.

Powerade Tigers

Many would say that the Tigers are the losers in this deal. Many would say: “Why trade Lassiter with 3 bench warmers?”  Hmm. I think that would not be a problem.

  • Rabeh Al-Hussaini & Rey Guevarra - These guys are superstars in their respective teams (Rabeh for Ateneo; Rey for Letran) during their college days. Actually they are first rounders during the 2010 draft, Rabeh was Air21’s 2nd pick, and Rey was the 3rd pick also by Air21. They were just unlucky their previous team was packed with veteran star players which causes lack of playing time for them. Rabeh is a legit big man who can score and defend in the paint. He’ll be reuniting with another Blue Eagle Doug Kramer and another big man Alex Crisano. Rey on the other hand is also an offensive threat. He has a soft touch from the perimeter and even beyond the arc, also, he could also attack the rim and can convert them to points. He’s a good defender too. He’ll be a good fit in the 2-guard or even the 3 spot and let El Granada take the 2.
  • Lordy Tugade - Well, this guy could be a dominant player off the bench. Although now that he is playing past his prime, at least he could still shoot those treys and even defend against young guns in the league.

Conclusion:

Petron = Winner.

Powerade = We’ll find out in the upcoming conference. :D
